About This Author

Hi there!

I'm a grandmother, a nursing educator, an avid knitter and an aspiring writer. I created this page for family and friends who expressed interest in reading my writing. It is mostly poetry with a few short stories sprinkled here and there .

The poem on this page is one my Mom favored. The collectible trinket is from a needlework picture of Longfellow's home she completed. Mom loved poetry and was an avid reader. She and my brother,Rasputin , inspire me still.

I have a published form modification called the Rondel Grand Modified; it is located here:

Drop me a note by clicking on the "Contact Me" link above and let me know you stopped to visit.

Happy reading and write on!

A Light Puzzle 11/10/2015
"The blue sky piece goes there", my brother pointed
To a spot with an odd-shaped end.
Quickly snapping the sky piece in
He flashed me a boyish grin.
Eagerly grabbing another end piece,
Determined to finish and win
I gleamed smugly at my brother and
Quite suddenly our lights were dimmed.

Sparks, sputters and flashes of light
And then the room grew dark.
In the black silent night we dared not move while
Peeking through half-closed windows at stars.
A humming sound filtered through the air,
Was my brother was playing tricks on me,
As silently we waited there?
"Stop it", I said; "Not I", said he.

I started to argue but realized
The humming continued when he
Talked to me. If not my brother
Then who could that be?
Light from the stars was giving us hope
That soon we would be found.
Our parents were only outside in the yard,
But the doors and windows were all locked down.

The humming grew louder, increasing in pitch
We looked at each other in fright.
What is happening here in this room on
This dark and powerless night?
A scratching sound snapped our heads 'round
Toward the puzzle pieces we gaze and
From the jigsaw pieces we see
A purple radiating, glowing haze.

Pieces are floating in soft misty light and
Connecting together with synchronous sound.
This musical muse and puzzle guru bringing
Chills to our hearts in the darkness abounds.
Our puzzle emerges in purple radiance bright
We watched, huddled together in awe and fear,
Abruptly familiar voices grow louder - Mom and Dad!
We smiled together - our rescue was here!
