About This Author

Hi there!

I'm a grandmother, a nursing educator, an avid knitter and an aspiring writer. I created this page for family and friends who expressed interest in reading my writing. It is mostly poetry with a few short stories sprinkled here and there .

The poem on this page is one my Mom favored. The collectible trinket is from a needlework picture of Longfellow's home she completed. Mom loved poetry and was an avid reader. She and my brother,Rasputin , inspire me still.

I have a published form modification called the Rondel Grand Modified; it is located here:

Drop me a note by clicking on the "Contact Me" link above and let me know you stopped to visit.

Happy reading and write on!

unclaimed heart

What old feelings have you stirred?
My imagination brings you here
Into my life, my home, my hearth
Time ne’er erased you from my heart.

‘Twas but yesterday you strode in
To my office and you stood
Embracing me in your arms
“A kiss to remember” you said – and I would.

My beating heart could not be stilled
Amid feelings of love, longing for you.
Thinking this could not be true
From you, confused, I fled
Hoping that you never knew -
The pain of loss harbored within instead.

Forbidden! Oh how I remember
and knowingly departed -
You sent a letter in September.
I read and read the letter o’er
Wondering did I choose
The right path, the higher ground-
Your marriage – I dared not intrude

Though twenty-six years have quickly passed
That memory did not fade
One brief contact sparked a flame
And I pondered once again
Did I really love you then?

Had I stayed, pursued the course
Would we now happily be
Together in life forever
Locked by rings for eternity?
Or was our stirring love just lust,
A longing desire from only me?

When thoughts of you invade my mind,
I see a sandy beach
Warmed by sun, yet chilled by wind
Walking the shore, skipping quick the tide.
Wrapped in each other, snuggling in-
Are you my Prince, are you my life?
You are what might have been.

Two roads diverged into a wood
The poet Robert said
He could not choose, neither could I
But traveled another path instead.

And you, my friend, my long lost flame
Traveled a well-worn path of your own
You never knew how much I pined
Or longed to be in your arms entwined
In passionate embrace again– a kiss or two
You never knew
Deep within my heart’s refrains –
Burned my love for you.
