A search for a long held dream
A chill hung in the air,
Remnants of winter.
Her eyes shone in delight
At this new adventure.

The city welcomes her,
Swallows her fragile form.
Extracts those new ideas,
Leaves her lost, unborn.

As if no knowledge exists.
All completely stripped bare.
Now wandering the streets
With no fight left to care.

The street lights once shone bright
Into these broken eyes.
Reflecting a passion,
But the stories were lies.

Those told so long ago,
Sunk deep into her soul.
How a new city life
Would make her whole.

So, frail, lost, unsettled,
She turns her mind to home.
Street lights dim behind her,
This city life is done.
