Baby It's Cold Outside
We've had a pretty mild winter so far for this part of the country, but all good things must end. We have gotten lucky in the snowstorms that have rumbled through, never getting more than a few inches, usually. We did get a bit later in the fall with some pretty chilly temperatures following the snow, but only for a week, then it was back to more summer-like temperatures. We did get a couple of days of snow that left us with about seven or eight inches, but most of that melted. Most of the time, two or three inches is all we got. Temperatures also have stayed pretty nice with it just cold enough to finally get the lakes froze enough to ice fish. Even so, we are still having people break through from time to time. It just hasn't been cold enough for more than a night or two to make good ice and thick ice. To top it off, we get days warm enough to melt it some as well. But, that ended yesterday. We started out above freezing but the temperature dropped through the day with midnight's low being today's high. It's dropped steadily through the day with it currently being one-degree Fahrenheit but feels like minus fifteen. It's supposed to warm up a couple of degrees before dropping below zero tomorrow night and by Monday morning we will wake to a balmy fifteen below zero. If the forecast holds true, we won't see the mercury above zero until Tuesday. It's a good time to stay inside and read a good book, play some games, and watch some old movies. It's also a good time for the lakes to get a good, solid, and thick layer of ice, so when it warms up a bit, I can go out and finally get some ice fishing done since the girls will finally be back at school. |

About The Author
My writing doesn't follow any set genre, it's interdependent of my mood and all that's taking place in life. I'm still finding myself, what I write constitutes the markers along the path of that journey. With time, many things will manifest in my work and perhaps I will pursue one or two genres. For now, it's not, "What type of writing is my passion?"
"Writing is my passion."
