Fear
Change and uncertainty:
Anything can happen, but it isn't usually good.
I tell myself things change for the better
How many times do I have to be proven wrong?
Optimism is exhausting, requiring daily effort.
Nihilism is easier—the world's a mess so why bother doing anything?
Decidedly unhealthy attitude, however.
Keep going, keep looking forward. It can't be that bad.
