Days of May
May, usually a frenzied month for me:
Summer getting underway in Florida,
Days stretching out agonizingly long,
Sun blazing down in sticky air,
Nights too short and hot to get any rest.
I fret and fuss over stalled projects
Lacking inspiration…
Or rather, having too many ideas and not enough resources.
Too much to do in daylight,
Too exhausted to tap creative processes after sundown.
Time slides past, not waiting for my brain to catch up,
So I push myself to do whatever I can,
Dealing with things one at a time
Until month's end approaches
And I can look back with tired satisfaction,
Saying I did everything on my to-do list—
Even though I have no idea how.
