Weariness
I'm so tired, can I please come home?

Poignant words, echoing burning eyes having seen too much.
Love abandoned, life forlorn,
Sobriety balanced on a knife's edge of emotions
Bubbling exhausted just under a smiling surface.
Heart cut to pieces, served up and sold out
Sharks circling, mind racing—sleep flew the coop.
Moonlight reveals what might rather be hidden,
Images fleeting under closed eyelids.
Denied access to what's needed most
Hills aflame, separating love from life.
Aching bones find no rest
When ashen souls refuse to ghost
Undead, stalking, relentless memories,
Dancing skeletons reign supreme,
Haunting graveyards of murdered dreams
Lurking in shadows of what could have been.
