Jane Austen Blog City Prompt
Prompt: On this day in 1817, the English novelist Jane Austen who wrote such classics as Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice died in Winchester, Hampshire at age 41.
Which novel famously opens with the line "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife." Pride and Prejudice. My favorite novel. I have five copies of this and one has letters written in Regency handwriting from the characters and one has Martha Stewart cookie recipes in it. I love Elizabeth and Darcy. Visit my Port. Fact or Fiction: "Jane agreed to marry someone but broke this agreement a day later. True! She didn't love him. She wasn't going to marry a man for money. She loved a man of Irish descent but his parents didn't think she was good enough. They sent him to college. Another man Thomas Lefoe was like Darcy to her but he was married to her cousin. I felt sorry for Jane when I read this.
