Prompts day 12: Story to include a doctor, nurse and/or paramedic.
Dr. Laura knew what to expect when she got home from work. Her husband was drunk again. She managed to avoid him, but he found her dog. When she found the body, her heart broke. The poor dog was more faithful than he had ever been.
If he would do that to the dog, it wouldn't be long until it was her turn – or someone else's.
She stayed late at the medical center. The next morning, she prepared his coffee precisely. At work, she had peace of mind…
He called her, anguished.
“Can I apologize?”
“I'm sorry. It's too late.”
