Don't Tell Mom The Balhannoth's Dead
Pursuing the creature that absconded with Antonio’s mother into an underground cavern system, Reggie attempts to fight off a swarm of five dozen giant rats on his own until the rest of the group can rejoin him. Thogun is the first to make it back, and casts Spiritual Guardians to help with the rats, which also has the unintended additional benefit of deterring a flying Cloaker, which Tho knocks prone with his next attack.
Druid and Antonio rejoin the fight from a different cavern access point and, between Tho’s Spiritual Guardians, Druid’s Summon Animals, and Reggie’s punching, you're able to fend off the rats slowly but surely, as well as get your hits in on the Cloaker who elects to flee once it’s bloodied.
Once free of the rats, you pursue the sounds of Camille’s cries into a much larger cavern, but not before Antonio gets trapped in a bit of quicksand and Reggie manages to pull him out. In the larger cavern, the stalactite creature, known as a Balhannoth, is slowly feeding on Antonio’s mother. Thogun manages to send the monstrosity to a pocket dimension with a Banishment spell, and the group focuses their attention on a Black Pudding that is making its way toward you. It splits every time it gets hit for a lot of damage, but you eventually manage to destroy each of the duplicates that the Black Pudding formed of itself.
Returning to the spot where the Balhannoth was banished, Tho advises everyone to prepare for its return. He has you all ready actions and then, several minutes later, realizes that he must have banished the Balhannoth to a different dimension entirely, one from which it won’t return. You all help Camille return to the safety of the Dawson family estate. As you get her home safely, she helps Reggie identify the ring that he won in the karaoke contest as a Ring of Three Wishes (with two charges remaining). Reggie also wants to visit Aanen in Driscoll before you all return home to Kyriel...
