A Town Out Of Time (Part II)
In the port of Gallegos, you and your new traveling companion Whispersail investigate the seemingly empty town. Upon further inspection, you realize that all of the townsfolk are in some kind of state of suspended animation. You’re drawn to the one place in town where there still seems to be something moving around and discover a Maurezhi demon, which you destroy before taking on several others. Before you can destroy the last one, though, you hear the sound of additional fiendish forces arriving.

Cornered in a small town square, you face off with three greater demons that you’ve never faced before. A hulking four-armed, red-skinned behemoth with two pincers; a spellcasting bipedal cross between a warthog and an ogre; and another one that you can’t quite identify other than its glowing yellow eyes and bat-like wings, thanks to constantly being concealed in a cloud of magical darkness.

You make quick work of the big one, and then Thogun banishes the spellcaster so you can focus on the flying bat creature, which you eventually manage to take down as a joint effort. The battle seems all but won, until Tho intentionally drops concentration on his banishment spell, bringing the spellcasting demon back before it can be permanently relegated back to the Abyss. You’re forced to destroy that one as well, and as soon as you do, whatever spell is holding the townsfolk in suspended animation lifts, and people begin going about their daily lives again. You’re also approached by an elderly female halfling in worn plate mail, who notes your victory against the demons with interest, identifying herself as Ikaron. You recognize the name as the famed demon hunter that Azura mentioned might be able to help provide more information on Ar’unath and his plans.

Whispersail and Reggie, angry at Tho for forcing them to fight the third demon, wander off and go looking for Dallon’s niece, Delilah. Reggie is so mad at Tho that he walks right by her, and Whispersail has to point her out. It becomes apparent that the townsfolk have experienced only a momentary lapse in time, even though they’ve been in a state of suspended animation for weeks. Whispersail tries to help determine exactly how long by asking Delilah questions about her body hair growth, and then eventually settles on inspecting how long her fingernails are.

Ultimately, you all decide to rest up at the local inn so that Delilah can finish her business in town and return to Kyriel under your protection. In the meantime, you decide to use the down time to recover from the battle and have a candid conversation with Ikaron about demon hunting.
