Sniper
Prompts day 19: Story to be a War genre (or to include War genre elements).
The sniper lay flat on the rooftop, eyes fixed over the edge, waiting for his target. His orders: take down any human appearing in the streets below. No matter what.
Sunlight burned through the shirt on his back as he maintained watch. Shadows crawled across the ground like dying soldiers. A scrawny cat yowled.
Humanity appeared on the sidewalk: a slight, robed figure, pushing a stroller.
His hands, tight on the weapon, slipped momentarily.
Kill anyone. No matter what.
“God forgive me.” He took aim, fired, radioed, “One down.”
Under the robes: steel body armor. The stroller: packed with explosives.
Words: 100.
