Found Cat
Cat slips between soggy weeds –
Chilled, bedraggled, droopy.
Pumpkins lurch: bulging, bulbous, overripe,
Tight skins glistening under crescent moon
Half obscured by drifting fog. Tired, lonely,
She curls up under a squash leaf
To dream of a warm, loving home.
Rachel's cloudy eyes pierce her dewy window,
Sleep escaping into foreign territory
As she wishes for a companion,
Asking God what blessings await her
Through long lonely foggy nights.
Wandering through her garden with a lantern
She discovers Cat, brings her inside,
Gratitude filling her home with warmth and love.
15 lines, 91 words.
Prompt: Use the words in your poem:
Pumpkin - Cat - Fog
