Oatmeal Raisin Cookie
Cold, extracted from crackling plastic ā
Thin, flat, dry, overpriced, underloved.
Nibbled at carefully so as not to waste crumbs.
Store-bought can't compare
To granny's secret recipe.
A touch of cinnamon, cloves, ginger,
Plump SunMaid raisins tasting of California sunshine
Rough-hewn oats, subtle sweet honey
Mixed with love in a chipped blue bowl
On yellow countertops, radio in the background.
Impossible to eat only one ā
Warm, chewy, spice scented, wholesome.
Crumbly in all the right ways.
Tastes like coming home.
14 lines, 79 words.
Prompt: write a poem about your favorite cookie, using it as the title.
