Stories, Shaping Our Rooms And Our Lives
Prompt:If writing is about sharing the stories that matter then designing a home is about shaping the spaces where those stories unfold. Write about this quote in your Blog entry today.
We write fictional stories and true stories about our lives. Home. You celebrate Christmas and holidays with families and friends. There are stories you write about them. A bad snow day. You do some baking and maybe you write an adventure story about being snow bound in a cabin in the woods.
Items in your house. The China Hutch from your mother. You can write a story about where the dishes and decorative items come from. My Niki Newman Plate from Young and the Restless. My Barbie Doll Plates. I adore Barbie. My Yellowstone Coffee Mug. My Teddy Bear Plates. They survived the house fire we had 25 years ago. Mom's crystal pieces. They are special. The Grandfather Clock. I wrote a story about a Grandfather Clock, elves and fairies.
I collect dolls, stuffed animals, tea pots and a lot of things. Dolls from Taiwan, Japan. My father bought me these. The flag from Dad's funeral, his plaques from the Air Force. There are stories here.
A house. Memories. There are stories to be told. Your pets. You can write stories about them. The meals you made in your kitchen. Dancing to Johnny Cash music with your family in the kitchen while doing the dishes. Some good stories. Pictures of family members, Jesus and Queen Elizabeth on the entertainment center. There are stories for everything in your house. Everyone has a story. Every face tells a story. Write from life. Look around your house. You will be surprised at what stories you will come up with. |
