Was There A Time
Was there a time God was alone,
From eternity aforetime?
No terrestrial ball,
Nor heaven's high canopy
Where His glory covers all?
No sun that lit up the world to view -
Nor holy angels singing His praises anew.
Nothing - not a sound.
Only God from everlasting.
Self-contained - self-satisfied - self-sufficient,
In need of nothing.
