The Miracle Shot
It was my tenth birthday and a new BB gun.
I went to the barn to have some fun.
High on a treetop, my eyes spotted a yellow canary.
It was too far away for my BB's to carry.
Since it was an impossible shot,
I fired one to see what it got.
The pretty bird fluttered from his seat,
Then fell to the ground - about thirty feet.
Tears formed as I hoped he wasn't dead.
Lesson learned, my BB was in his head.
After using warm earth to cover his soft feathers with care,
Very quietly I walked away - God was there.
