Needle's Eye
The merchant arrived late,
the city had shut its main gate.
He needed to go inside at night,
not letting his cargo out of sight.
There was only one way now to get by,
that was through the needle's eye.
It was a smaller door used at night
after the gates were locked tight.
He began unloading his charcoal and grain,
it would take time - and be a pain.
It was the only way to get his camels through,
not only one, but he had two.
Unloaded of their baggage, the camels had to kneel;
each struggling through the doorway - what an ordeal.
Stripped bare and down on their knees,
they both made it through but had to squeeze.
Like the rich man wanting eternal life,
we must be willing to let go of wealth and strife.
Humble yourself - let go like Zaccheus,
repent at the foot of the cross to Jesus.
"It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than it is for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."
Luke 18:25
