Surely, the loss of someone we're close to will make us grieve for years and that is extra extra draining. But then, more or less, we learn to live with it.

Also, you hit the nail on the head with the repairs. My plumber left moments ago. Thank God that he could come within a day or I'd fry with some weird drainage problem in the AC. It's always something, here. Then, arthritis is another thing but I promised myself not to dwell on it. Lol!

The firsts without our parents are tough. Some days are harder to move through than others. As you say, they live in your heart. We carry them with us. And each day we slowly adjust to a world without them. I genuinely don't think there is any getting over - or I am really bad at it. I think the hole they leave stays the same, our capacity to love those left just increases and we just fill the space with memories.

Grief is very draining. It saps everything you have to offer. I am sorry for your loss. I still feel the hole my dad left behind and that was almost 10 years ago. You are right, the memories keep us going, that and good friends to lean on!!

I'm sorry for your loss. Mother's Day has been tough for me since losing my mom as well. I try to focus the day on honoring my wife with our kids, but it's hard knowing that someone I was so close to isn't here anymore.

I am with you. I never have understood the whole "Blog" thing and what it means. I think Journal or Diary is a better word for what goes on with me.

It is one of those things that creeps up on us. I have no idea what Vlog is either.

Journal makes sense to me. But I can call it what they want me to call it to get along and be nice.

I am sure there is something I am missing in my understanding.

Taylor Swift Today

Taylor Swift. What happened to sweet Taylor Swift? I watched a new video of hers on YouTube. It is like Cinderella and in the beginning and she has three step sisters and she is cleaning the floor and they are picking on her. They go the ball and Taylor changes into a modern day, glamorous woman and looks like a Macys perfume commercial. the video goes back to Taylor being dressed like Cinderella and the castle and gargoyles appearing. I love Medieval times and gothic but I was hoping the video would be about Cinderella like it started out to be in the beginning. The song in Bejeweled from her new Midnight Hour Album. Taylor's music has changed so much. The last CD I bought by her was 1989. I loved Shake It Off. The song about she has a long list of lovers and I'll write your name.

I love her old songs. You Should Be With Me, Love Story, Back To December, Red. Taylor was so different. She is still beautiful but did she really need to change? I have been listening to her old songs and her new songs. I am sure the CD Midnight will make a lot of money but it won't be because of me. I hope she is happy. I wish Taylor all the best as I listen to her old songs. I did use her picture as a cover art for this book.

Things That Will Always Be In Fashion

Prompt: Joy asked what things will always be in fashion no matter how much time has passed?

I think people will go to Church, those who believe and no one put a stop to that. Wedding Dresses and hats will always be in fashion especially in England for hats. We will always have our holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Patriotic Holidays, New Years Day, Easter. Take out food will always be around. Watching TV Shows will always be around. Electric and gas will always be part of our lives. People love pets and they will always have pets. Hobbies will never fade out. People have to things to do besides work. Music will always be in fashion. Old favorite book authors will be always be part of our life and fashion. WE can't all afford electric cars and we don't want the blanking things, so cars will always be with us. Hopefully, dumb Bozo politicians will be replaced by good ones. I am being nice! Some things are here here to stay and be fashionable!

Autumn

Prompt: What does autumn look like in your area?

We have spotty showers, frost, the leaves are turning green, orange and yellow. There are orange pumpkins on porches of people. Some have white pumpkins. Halloween decorations are up. Some flowers have died. It is 60 Degrees and back to 70s. Frost on pumpkins is sad but it happens. Autmn is peaceful but winter is around the corner. I will enjoy autumn until then.

Something Rare

I am writing this entry for the Rare Merit Badge. What do you have that is rare? How did you get it?

There is an item of a book about the county I live in Indiana. It is over 150 years old. My mother has this book and won't loan it out or give it to me but she says I can have it someday. This book is as old as the county I live in and it tells who owned what land or all the families who lived here. It is like who descended from who. The land is all mapped out and a lot of the land is farm land and a lot was swamp land. William Turner {not the pirate but I wish!} was the richest man in this part of Indiana and was an ancestor of mine. He gave his daughters all his land but they sold it. So, my family didn't get rich. No one has a book like this in the county.

I have a necklace made by Barbara Fairchild who sang The Teddy Bear Song. My mother got this necklace for me. It is made of purple yarn and a silver medallion. Mom became friends with Barbara and she got the necklace from her and now I have it. It is special.

I have autographs of popular people like Lara Parker of Dark Shadows, {she sent me pictures she autographed of herself at my request} Glen Campbell, { a picture of him when I joined his Fan Club, an album autographed by Waylon Jennings, his second album before he became famous. I have an autograph book signed by singers like Jack Greene, Loretta Lynn, Marty Robbins, Ralph Emery, Junior Sample of Hee Haw, Spec Rhoades from Porter Wagner. I think someday, this autograph book will be a rare find. I have an autographed picture of The High Chaparral Gang that I got from Linda Cristal when I sent her a fan letter. I joined The Passions Fan Club and got color autographed pictures of the cast.

These are my rare finds or at least they are to me as well as being special.

Favorite Thing To Do With Pumpkins

Prompt: What's your favorite thing to do with pumpkins?

I love white and orange pumpkins. I like putting them outside on my steps. Pumpkins say autumn and Halloween. I don't cook with pumpkins. I don't carve. I like them in their natural form. I love seeing a black cat on a orange pumpkin. Pumpkins have a mystery about them.if I ever solve the mystery of pumpkins, I will let you know.
