Blogocentric Formulations
Logocentric (adj). Regarding words and language as a fundamental expression of an external reality (especially applied as a negative term to traditional Western thought by postmodernist critics).

If there are any fans of The Big Bang Theory out there ({e:nudge} Brooke Author Icon *Wink*), I hope you watched this week's episode, which featured an absolutely charming song that Howard wrote for Bernadette. It was really clever and sweet and just about made my week. Here's a link to both a video and the lyrics for anyone who's interested. Seriously, the sheer number of references in the song is impressive, even more so when you consider it's touching and heartfelt too!

FUN FACT: The song was co-written by Kate Micucci who Big Bang Theory fans will recognize as the actress who plays Lucy, the awkward girl that went on a library date with Raj and kept trying to escape personal interaction by fleeing through bathroom windows. *Laugh*

The order for my new Macbook Pro has been placed! *Delight*

GEEK SPECS: 15" Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display. 2.6 GHz quad-core i7 Haswell/Crystal Well processor. 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L memory. 1TB PCIe-based SDD HDD. Dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT w/ 2GB GDDR5 dedicated memory. (Honestly, I'm not even sure I understand half of that. Maybe The StoryMaster Author Icon can explain it to me someday. *Wink*)

NORMAL PERSON SPECS: It's 0.71 inches thin, weighs less than 4.5 lbs., 8+ hour battery life, and comes with a heart attack-inducing credit card bill!

I seriously hope the computer gets here before my credit card statement arrives (gonna be close!), because I'll need to be happily surfing Writing.Com in all my Retina glory to cope with the fact that I'm going to be paying this thing off for the rest of the year. Normally I'm not one to splurge on items for myself, but in this case I did because:

1. A computer is, by far, the most-used piece of equipment I own. If I'm going to spend hundreds of hours in front of a computer screen every year, it should be a screen I really, really love!

2. My current ASUS notebook (15", 4GB memory, 320GB HDD, dual-core 2.1 GHz processor) has lasted me for almost exactly four years, which is far longer than I expected a $300 Black Friday laptop to last.

3. I'm not just going to be surfing the net and writing text documents. I also plan on using this for quite a few video editing projects down the road and I don't want to run into another issue like I did with the ASUS, where I needed functionality that it didn't have.

Seriously though, I'm really excited about getting a new computer. My ASUS has been on its last legs for a while (a clicking hard drive is not a good sign, right? *Wink*), and I'm thrilled to not only be getting a new computer, but to be going back to a Mac which I've been hoping to do for a while now.

So, yeah. By next Friday I should be up and running on the new computer... if my wife doesn't kill me when she sees the credit card bill first. *Laugh*
