Knowing that my wife will never read this (she dislikes me correcting someone, uh ... her), I feel safe in posting my counter-argument: Even the half stars are countable. Thus, fewer still applies. Less than is used for UNcountable items, such as less water, etc.

Apart from that, I completely agree with your opening paragraphs--I, too, have learned so much about my meager efforts to write from the members and the site over my past 17 years here. It is so hard for me to be on vacation and miss my daily interaction with WDC.

It's been years since I've read "Cry, the Beloved Country" but the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation are important. It was written circa 1948.

When apartheid ended and Mandela was released, reconciliation was the theme IRL.

Tragedy can bring people together.

Forgiveness and reconciliation can help one cope.

NaNo taught me to write no mTTER WHAT APPEARED BECAUSE LATER THE EDITOR WULL FIX THE STORY SO IT IS READABLE AND ENJOYABLE. WRITING IS AN ADVENTURE AND A JOURNEY TO BE ENJOYED, GO FOR IT!

World War Z- didn't so much have a plot as telling like how a disease unfolds. Should probably ready again post pandemic.

Makes me wonder how many attempts at creating new genres, or revitalizing old ones, or spinning new narrative structures, will never make the list because they were too different. Or for other reasons.

Often, experiments fail.

Prep 2025 and My Contrary Muse

I'm actually Prepping this year.

I spent the first two days re-reading old notes and short stories from my Druid Archives world, thinking for sure I would write something there. The plan was to get back into the habit of writing, and specifically writing in that world, so I could move on to actually editing some of it and maybe publish one, if not all ten, of the novel-length works I started as early as 2007.

My Muse had other plans.

Meet Maya (Yaya) Kumar, teen witch extraordinaire, and her crime-fighting cohorts, Frankie Ortiz and Penny Blackburn. Also Frankie's older brother Ricardo, who may or may not become a problem for the witch trio.

Because what I need is another work in progress.
