The gig: it rocked. It was a private party, very informal, and they loved me. They were all singing along to a lot of the songs, and they asked me to stay an extra two hours, which I quickly negotiated a new price for and agreed to. Although, after two hours playing Potbelly at lunch, and then five hours playing this private party last night, I thought my fingertips were going to fall off.

In other news, I told the owner of the studio where I teach lessons that if she ever wants to sell her business, she should let me know. She said, "Really?" I explained that I was saving to leave Abbott, and that I would love an investment opportunity. She said, "I'll think about it." I could tell by the look on her face that she was dead serious. She's had a lot of heartache in the last year or two, and I think she just wants out at this point.

Okay, so yesterday afternoon, I got an email asking if I could play a party this evening. It's a three-hour gig. I was like, um, YES. The caveat? She wants three hours of EIGHTIES music. I have eighties music, but not three hours' worth! So I've spent every waking moment since working on building enough of an eighties repertoire to fill a three-hour set. I'm getting paid good money to do it *Thumbsup* and it has the added benefit of hugely expanding my repertoire in a matter of twenty-four hours. Hence, I may not need any new Potbelly songs for a couple MONTHs, because I can launch these one or two at a time. *whew* I can use that time to catch up on sleep. And finish the Textbroker article that I committed to yesterday, but haven't touched thanks to this new, more pressing priority. The gig is tonight from 7-10. The Textbroker article is due at 11am on Sunday. You do the math.
