I'm taking down this goal. I'm not even sure what it means anymore. I work on the biz(es) every damn day. Although, I do need some structure around work. This working from home stuff is a pain. When the twelve-year-old gets off the bus, nothing else gets done for the day. And I'm definitely most productive in the morning, sleepy in the afternoon, and busy spending time with family in the evening. It will help when I'm teaching lessons more often in the late afternoon. Maybe I can throw a couch in my office at the school and take a nap after Potbelly every day.

Top 10 SEO checklist results for MochaNotes.Com
Proper Title Tags
Well-constructed title tags contain the main keyword for the page, followed by a brief description of the page content. It will be less than 65 characters and avoid using stop words such as: a, if, the, then, and, an, to, etc. Your title tag should also be limited to the use of alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and commas.
Look out! The majority of your pages have title tag issues:
1 page has invalid title tag characters.
194 pages have stop words in the title.
27 pages have title > 65 characters.
Proper Description Tags
Good description tags contain information about the page's content and persuade search engine users to visit your web site. They should be between 25 and 35 words in length.
Great work! No significant description tag issues to speak of.
Proper Keywords Tags
Your keywords meta tag should contain between 5-10 keywords or keyword phrases that are also found in page content.
Great work! No significant keywords meta tag issues to speak of:
4 pages have no keywords meta tag.
Proper Heading Tags
Each page of your site should use at least the H1 heading tag for the search engines that examine it when crawling your site.
Great work! No significant heading tag issues to speak of.
Page Content
Pages should have between 300 and 700 words of descriptive content that contains the keywords specified for the page.
Look out! The majority of your pages have page content issues:
186 pages have a highest meta tag keyword density of less than 2%.
Proper Navigation
Each page of your site should contain links to every other page so search engine spiders can find every page. This is a critical step for the proper indexing and page rank distribution of your site.
Look out! The majority of your pages have navigation issues:
2 pages have broken external links.
159 pages have no external links.
Proper Sitemap
It's important to use two site maps for your website--an XML version and a static version. The XML version can be created with Search Engine Visibility's site map tool. The static version should sit on a static HTML page and contain links to every other page.
Look out! No site map found.
A sitemap XML file was not found.
Controlled Crawling
It's important that search engine spiders find your robots.txt file that guides spiders to pages and directories you want crawled and denies entry to protected areas of your site.
Look out! You have robots.txt file issues:
No robots.txt file found
Duplicate Content/Tags
Because search engines treat web sites as a grouping of pages and not a single entity, each page on your site should be unique so that the tags and content differ between each page. Doing so increases the number of pages that will rank.
You have minor duplicate tag issues:
145 pages are using the same description tag.
24 pages are using the same title tag.
Word Density
Pages should contain 300 to 700 words of unique and descriptive content. A page's meta tag keywords should also be those that occur most frequently on the page.
Look out! You have major word density issues:
120 pages have their most frequent word appear less than 2% of the time. |

Today is the funeral. Kenney was a big Skynyrd fan, so I'll be singing "Freebird" at the service, which is lyrically very appropriate for a funeral. I'm also singing "I'll Fly Away," an old gospel song that fits the theme nicely, and will make Keith and Kenney's mom happy.

2. My Advice for Business Managers readership was up this weekend, compared to previous weekends. It may be because of my plea in the blog description above . Thanks for your support. Still no Google ranking, but I did finally make an appearance on Alexa's rankings.
3. I started a blog called Dabbling in Domesticity (thanks to Storm Machine for the name!) Any domestic divas who would like to contribute, by all means, drop my a note.

Goal met. Been workin' on the websites again. Eventually, I'll need to create a brochure (or several) for the school and one (or several) for my performance biz. Goal met. I drove by the location of yet another competitor in Pickerington, where 88 Keys is located. Four music education establishments already grace this lovely town in which I live: 88 Keys, my former employer; Rock Factory, started by two teachers who left 88 Keys and sued Molly, the owner of 88 Keys (they lost, and they are violating their non-compete contract, but apparently there isn't much she can do to shut them down); Music, Movement & Me (who specializes in younger children, and whose owner, Janet, is a Reale sweetie); and Mid-Ohio Music, formerly Lang Music, who just moved from another location closer to Columbus. Lang is very, very well-known on the east side of Columbus and might be a formidable competitor for the other three. I stopped in to chat with them a couple nights ago. Nice guys.
It's not a problem for me, because I'm opening in Gahanna, which boasts only one other formal music school, and which serves several affluent communities with high family densities. But if I ever want to expand and open a shop in my hometown, say, after my non-compete agreement expires, the new boys in town might deter me.

MochaNotes.com list: I set up Google Adwords and activated a "free" GoDaddy advertising credit worth $75. Google made me pay a $5 activation fee that didn't come out of the $75 credit, plus they have a minimum charge of $10 on my credit card, so I paid $10 out of pocket for $80 worth of advertising. I created one ad and set up the keywords to trigger the ad. You pay per click, so the money just hangs out in your account until people click on your ad, and then Google deducts the payment for the click.
...and so far, I've had 350 "impressions" (page loads with my ad embedded on the page) and zero clicks. Apparently, those are bad stats, because a typical CTR ("click-through rate" - percentage of impressions that result in a click) is 2%. So, apparently, I suck at advertising.

N/A. I am digging through the Adsense help files and forum to see how the heck you make money on ads. It's like this baffling algorithm even more complicated than, "How do I get my website to the top of a Google search?" Google is the King of Baffling Algorithms.
One thing is becoming clear: The more valuable your keywords, the more advertisers are willing to pay for clicks and impressions. Therefore, a blog on business management, for example, is more valuable to advertisers than a spec fic ezine.

Goal met. I also planned my series of posts for next week, based around the theme of workplace integrity.
I wonder if advertising the site would bring in visitors, which would increase my ad revenue? That seems backwards, paying advertising costs to generate advertising revenue, but if I could garner a loyal following, the blog might spread by word-of-mouth and see ongoing income.

Goal met!!! I did some serious performance biz branding yesterday:

dropped a promo magnet off with the *new* manager of Crown Sports Pub - apparently Adam is no longer there
dropped a CD and biz card off at a bar owned by a fellow church member; he was on vacation, so I sent him a FB message, too

recorded and uploaded Time

Lessons today.
15 minutes of small biz research per day.
The one property manager didn't like my counter-offer. But when my broker talked to him, they may have reached an understanding, so the manager is going to counter-counter-offer. And I expect to draft a counter-offer for the other place, my fave, this morning. Fun times.
Perform one household chore per day.
I took out the trash, stopped at the store for ice cream (for the boy... not for me... for the boy... I mean, I only sampled it before he got home because I wanted to make sure it was as delicious as it looked... wouldn't want to disappoint with nasty ice cream...), and I slaved all day over a pot roast. Not really. It took 5-7 minutes in the microwave. Thanks, Bob Evans and the freezer section at Kroger. Incidentally, that's also where the ice cream is.
