About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write.
Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.

Prompt: What is your kryptonite and why does it have power over you?
How can I know that! One thing in one situation that acts as my kryptonite may not be my kryptonite in another situation. But just to make sure I answer this prompt correctly, I took a kryptonite test here: http://www.quiztron.com/tests/is_kryptonite_quiz_252959.htm
It showed my kryptonite as food, which could be true. I love food and sometimes overbuy stuff when I go to the supermarket for fear that I’d run out of it and let my hubby, who adores food, go hungry. Yet, if it weren’t for feeding someone else, I’d be perfectly happy with simple sandwiches and such.
Another kryptonite I fear that I have is suddenly getting enraged at something, which only happens once in two years or so but with a very good reason. Usually it is against certain self-important people who say or claim wrong or unjust things against someone or something I value. Then self-control or rather control of saying something in anger becomes very difficult.

Prompt: Mother Theresa said, "Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls." Who do you hope to catch in your net this week?
I like the beginning of this quote a lot, which is: “Joy is prayer. Joy is strength. Joy is love.” But not because it repeats my name; I am quite resilient but not that strong and neither am I prayer or love. As to this week's catch, I don’t like netting people to catch them. I’d rather they came to me on their own. But enough about me. I really would like to focus on what I think the quote means to say.
Describing this state of being/feeling is difficult, but inside an advanced person like Mother Theresa, this joy is a constant; in other words, not like a laughing fit or a momentary glee, but an ever present way of looking and feeling life. My guess is, because of its constancy, it inspires creativity, even if it looks unreasonable to the people from the outside. Since its basic constituting element is love, it cannot be tarnished, diminished, or troubled; instead, it is fearless and it provides an endless supply of satisfaction.

Prompt: Do you agree that the weather alters a person's mood? Does the weather affect your mood?
Not at all. I’ve lived in different places and in all kinds of weather with four seasons. I don’t think my mood was affected at all. What affects my mood usually emerges from the actions or reactions of people in a positive or a negative way.

Prompt: What was your favorite book and favorite movie when you were ten years old?
I can’t remember that far well enough to say exactly which book. Except, starting at the age of nine, I perfectly recall that I used to steal my mother’s novels and read them under the table with a flashlight. My mother was against my reading her novels, due to the idea that my emotional well-being would be compromised by those adult novels. Her opposition probably triggered my curiosity toward her books, some of which were Cronin’s and innocent enough. To this day, I like Cronin.
