About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. Kiya's gift. I love it!

anything or anyone

Prompt: Secrets. Write about them.

=================

The one place where there is a need for secrets is fiction. Without secrets, we would not have many of the genres. Secrets in stories make us curious and encourage our sense of discovery.

Can a secret, however, kept a secret forever? Not in fiction, but maybe in real life, and I guess, only rarely. Secrets are things that are kept hidden inside other things.

There is good side to secrets when we find them in the unlikely places, such as in nature. Some acts, creations, and beings of nature have unexplored elements that feel like magic. When we find out about them, we are delighted.

The negative side of secrets is related to lying, cheating, unlawful acts, hiding things for one’s own welfare, or starting false rumors to hide a wrong. When any one secret gets out, it may not be a big deal. Then, sometimes, it may turn into a life-altering event.

Some secrets give people a supposed power, an advantage, over other people who may not be unto the reality of a situation. Such untold secrets, if people guess they exist, leave them wondering and wanting to know. Such secrets may make us feel invigorated and curious to discover that hidden something .

When people keep a secret, it may bother them psychologically and they may feel better once they talk about them either to a priest, a psychiatrist, or a good friend or relative. Nothing is wrong with the unloading of hidden things as long as telling those secrets does not harm anyone in the long run.

Yet, some well-kept secrets, if unearthed, could hurt everyone greatly like the secrets a government keeps to defend its citizens. On the other hand, what the tabloids are after are not secrets. They have to do with people’s privacy in their everyday life. What one does in his or her private everyday life is their business and others have no right to invade their privacy. Not only the tabloids, but also some people act nosily and want to find out about things private people don’t want to be aired in public.

In short, the best thing to do, for protection of one’s self, is not to tell anyone what one doesn’t want to become public.
