About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write.
Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground.

Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet
confinement of your aloneness
to learn
anything or anyone
that does not bring you alive
is too small for you.

Prompt: "One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure." William Feather
Do you agree?
----------
Life, an adventure? Is that why I feel so tired? Just joking, but I agree. Life is an adventure. You never know what will pop up each day, each hour. Even in the calmest of lives, “it’s always something.” Just like Gilda Radner’s something.
That something can be either negative or positive or both at the same time. Truth is, you can’t count on anything like excellent offspring, perfect health, unending success etc. There is only change, even if, at times, a life seems dull and boring, or else, any excitement is possible.
Surely, people who lack a sense of adventure may feel shocked at every turn, but those who take things as they come and handle them with courage are the ones who understand that life is a gift of adventure and, even if some events are not to their liking, they feel happier in general.
I am not saying that people should act like skydivers or car racers all the time, but accepting change when it comes and adjusting to it will make them more satisfied with their existence, if not elated.
I have a saying on the wall next to my desk I picked up from Facebook. It says: “When something goes wrong in your life, just yell ‘Plot Twist!’ and move on.”
I find this to be so true and helpful, and sure enough, I brought this entry into the writing arena, once again.
