Hanging Eleven

"You ready Braw?" said the lanky beach bottled blonde as he slapped his nervous and dark-haired compatriot on the back. They were both standing by two small lockers near the back of the craft busily donning their protective suits.

"You know it," replied his friend, his voice cracking momentarily. "So Johnny, your sure this is perfectly safe and all? I mean we're not supposed to be detouring from the survey to mess around."

"Braw, I told you its no different that hitting the Pipeline like we did on off days of the Hawaiian Marine Survey . I mean sure we had to travel a hell of a lot farther than Oahu this time but that's all just semantics when it comes to toasty waves. You know what I mean,Braw? This mission's a total snoozer, no beer, no babes or waves so what's the harm in us making up for it by catching a few waves, even if their not made of water? You said yourself we need to blow off some steam and after all a waves a wave and a wet-suit's a wet-suit, right? " observed Johnny looping his stringy hair into a ponytail before guiding his friend over to the observation port. "Just take a look at it man, The biggest waves you've ever seen and the only difference at the end of the day is it's not H2O Braw.

Other than that their bigger than what anyone else has ever seen and the best part is nobody's even thought to surf them yet. We'll be legends Braw, legends..." he finished as he continued to point at the giant angry red eye of the very storm that had marred Jupiter's cloudy visage for centuries and now was floating mere miles below their orbiting craft. "So enough of this nonsense Braw," finished Johnny as he locked his helmet into place and grabbed the large improvised titanium board that been part of a spare atmospheric probe and was now tethered and floating weightlessly near the airlock."

"Atmospheric entry in Thirty-seconds, Dudes" chimed the computer of the small survey craft into their helmets.

"They onto our change in mission parameters yet Keanu?" said Johnny.

"No way bah-dee, otherwise they'd be tweaking by now," retorted the computer.

"Then, depressurize the compartment and open the bay doors Keanu," said Johnny to the computer he had recently christened with a new nickname and a few new programmed personality quirks to help out their cause .

"Way," replied the computer as the airlock doors began to open.

"Cheer up Braw; this is gonna be bitching," laughed Johnny flashing the hang ten sign as he vaulted past his friend, who was still nervously holding his own board, and into the swirling maelstrom of Jupiter's clouds.
