About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Simon and Garfunkel Prompt
by A Non-Existent User
This is a very rough draft based on "My Little Town". I apologize in advance for the cheese factor, and I assure you that not all my work is this sappy. This poem just went that way for some reason. *Sad*

In my little town
there's a grassy knoll
that's seen a lot of frisbees
and touch-football games
but no dead presidents
as far as I know.

In my little town
children play
in yards and streets
far from danger
yet near to my heart.

In my little town
we've never felt the need
for a vice squad
and murders are distant rumors.

In my little town
I buy lemonade on street corners
And order cookies from my porch

In my little town
we know our neighbors
and Rockwell's vision
Is a reality.
