About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Late Prompt #1 - Koo-koo-ka-choo
by Misawa Author IconMail Icon
Koo-koo-ka-choo
A common enough name, hers, Mrs. Robinson,
and his, Ben..., Benjamin Braddock, in full,
not particularly unusual. Typically American.
Was she in all her mature beauty a predator?
Was he a young innocent, a ripe-for-plucking pawn?
What lies behind the lies? An unappreciated middle-aged
woman and spouse desperately seeking validation
that she remains desirable; a foot-free, but confused
young man in search of identity; and each finding answers,
some to questions unasked, in the other. And a third player,
her daughter, Elaine, thrown into the mix as a lovers’ foil,
begins to turn the plot in the middle of the play, opening new doors
while closing others. Yes, all walk away somewhat uneasily at curtain call,
knowing a little more about what is, yet understanding far less what is to be.
