About This Author
My name is Joy, and I love to write. Why poetry, here? Because poetry uplifts its writer, and if she is lucky enough, her readers, too. Around us, so many objects abound to write about. Once a poet starts with a smallest, most trivial object, he shall discover that his pen will spill out what is most delicate or most majestic hidden inside him. Since the classics sometimes dealt with lofty subjects with a lofty language, a person with poetry in his soul may incline to emulate that. That is understandable. Poetry does that to a person: it enlarges the soul and gives it wings. Yet, to really soar, a poet needs to take off from the ground. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

(35. Today's prompt is: "Images in the Dark")

eyes closed, sleeping colors, shadows and red spots
yellow specks pulsing with my heartbeat
or muted daylight fusing the rainbow
into single fat gyrating stripes
thoughts hover in the never land
between today and another dimension
extensions of my wakefulness
creating momentary images in the dark
staring siamese blue eyes fade into
a sphinx from another epoch
crumbling imprecise features depict
mysteries enclosed in secret places
unspeakable whisperings
memories from my personal depths
floating restlessly from
the prison where the freedom of my imagination
roams between its guilded bars...
startled awake from their reality
they dissipate before I remember their power
in an uneasy sense of calm
the china cat somehow fell from the top shelf
