One of the things I would recommend would be to read reviews from "Invalid Item"  page. This page memorializes some of the best reviewers on WDC and their reviews. The reviews on that page are some of the best on the site, so studying them will give you an idea of the components of a good review. Pay attention to the templates the reviewers use and the types of things they comment on. Also on that page - check out the links under the header 'WDC Members Writing About Reviewing'. There are some really good articles in that section, all of which focus on giving quality reviews.

Also, check out the "Invalid Item" . I took a review course there and learned a ton! The new term starts April 15th, so it is not too late to sign up. Their are a variety of classes (I think they're all 6 weeks in length) that cover reviewing different types of items. The classes cost 2000 GPs, but if the money is a problem for you, I would be happy to sponsor your tuition. If you have the time, I definitely think signing up for one of those classes would be your best bet.

If none of those suggestions work for you, however, the number one suggestion I would give you is to be honest when writing reviews, but to temper that honesty with encouragement and respect. It is always good to point out some of the things you like in the story or poem along with your suggestions for improvement.
