There in the grass was a small toad, this girl, from her front yard won’t stray; the frog saw her then simply slowed, she looked at him where still he lay. This girl from her front yard won’t stray, the toad had left his safe abode; she looked at him where still he lay with wonder in her eyes that showed. The toad had left his safe abode when a little girl came out to play; with wonder in her eyes that showed upon a summer’s sunny day. 16 Lines Form: Pantoum The pantoum consists of a series of quatrains rhyming ABAB in which the second and fourth lines of a quatrain recur as the first and third lines in the succeeding quatrain; each quatrain introduces a new second rhyme as BCBC, CDCD.
