A New Friend

Upon a summer’s sunny day,
there in the grass was a small toad;
when a little girl came out to play,
the frog saw her then simply slowed.

There in the grass was a small toad,
this girl, from her front yard won’t stray;
the frog saw her then simply slowed,
she looked at him where still he lay.

This girl from her front yard won’t stray,
the toad had left his safe abode;
she looked at him where still he lay
with wonder in her eyes that showed.

The toad had left his safe abode
when a little girl came out to play;
with wonder in her eyes that showed
upon a summer’s sunny day.
