Cassie walked through the enchanted forest, pausing at each flowering bush to talk to its fairy residents. Fairies chatted about such silly things, but Cassie enjoyed her conversations with them. Each fairy asked her to sprinkle their home with a little of the magic water from her gold watering can and Cassie could never say no.

The wind blew past her. Cassie laughed and waved as it passed, for the joke it whispered had been quite funny. In the distance, she thought she spied a unicorn, but it stepped out of sight before she could be sure, hiding in the sunbeams that played through the trees.

Another movement caught her eye, drawing it to the ground near her feet. A fat, green frog hopped from the safety of the bushes into the open before her. She looked into his black beady eyes and gasped. "A frog! Are you under an enchantment?"

Yes, princess, and only you can break it, the frog replied, hopping forward once more and pausing closer.

Cassie set her magic watering can aside and crouched carefully before him. "I shall rescue you," Cassie declared. She reached out for him. The movement startled the poor prince and his frog instincts took over. He began to hop away. "No, get back here, prince," Cassie cried, chasing after him. The fairies cheered her on in her pursuit until at last she held the squirming frog in her hands.

With a laugh, Cassie set the frog back on the ground. Even playing the pretty princess in her mother's backyard had its limits of what she would do! The frog hopped back into the shade of the bush to get away from her. Cassie picked up her mother's old orange watering can and sprinkled it over the bush, just in case the water was magic and the frog was enchanted. It couldn't hurt.

"Cassie, lunchtime," her mother's voice called from behind the screened back door.

"Coming," Cassie called back and ran up the two wooden steps, leaving the magic watering can, fairies, and enchanted prince behind.
