Salli jump at the sound, her bare toes squooshing in the dew-soaked earth. From somewhere deep down water rose between the rocks set long ago to make a path. A path to somewhere magickal.

There it was, that sound again, from where the water trickled up. What's that, a talking leaf, but no, it's got legs that move back and forth, looking up at Salli, waiting.

A frog, she smiles, that could be a prince. She squats to greet her newfound friend, leaving her watering can to pet the frog.

"If a kiss will make you a prince, like in the fairy tale, what will just petting you do?"

Salli reaches for the frog, her hair framing her face, and with gentle touch pets him, or her, in greeting.

"Hello, frog from the underneath, will you be a prince if I pet your back, or make me a frog to play with you in the underneath world?"

Frog does not speak in human, but greets his new friend with a series of croaks. Though she does not speak the higher tongue of magick, she hears and understands what he wants, "In the land of two-legs I would be but a prince; in my home beyond the forest, I am king of all I see. Come with me and play, be my queen."

Sally jumps into the forest, a frog princess is born."
