June 9 - Surf
Brian loved the salty breeze that permeated the air, it was something about the sea water that placed a mellow calm over his soul. When he was having a bad day all he would need to do is go to the beach for all his worries to melt away. He stood on the beach in his black and teal wet suit staring off into the far depths of the water picturing himself on his board slicing through the water with his only care being that of weather or not he would be able to catch a bigger wave when he went back out.

As he stood watching the ocean something picked at his nerves telling him he was being watched. It was with a careful eye he surveyed his surroundings by casually scratching of his brown shaggy hair, and checking left and right. He quickly found a beautiful woman watching him from a towel she had placed close to a set of shrubs that nearly hid her from view.

Brian was greeted with a warm smile when he walked over to talk to her. She had bronze colored skin that matched his own probably from tanning as he had been while out in the wonderful weather. What caught his attention was her striking green eyes, and fiery red hair, he was a sucker for red heads, and it didn’t hurt that she filled the pink and white striped bikini very well in all the right places.

“I couldn’t help, but notice you were watching me.” He said to her, with a broad smile.

“Yeah, I’ve seen you around here a lot, usually from my boat.” She responded.

This last bit of information caught Brian off guard because he always scans the waters to make sure he is alone for the most part.

“Well, alright then.” Brian laughed.

“Yup, from what I can tell you have a good form when you’re surfing.” She said, smiling giving him a wink, then added, “I would suggest you stay away from the bigger waves until you know how to transition properly.”

Brian stood there in the sand enjoying the way it felt under his bare foot digesting the information she gave him then mentally weighed his chances, and decided to just go for it.

“You know, with all of this conversation I didn’t catch your name, I’m Brian, and you are?” He told her extending his hand to her.

“Elaine, my friends call me Lanie, it’s good to meet you Brian.” She replied, taking his hand in a firm shake.

"Would you like to surf with me to show me how to transition properly?" He asked with a toothy grin.

"Sure, but it won't be cheap." She answered, with a laugh.

"No problem, I was going to ask you out for drinks after anyway."

This all happened close to 24 years ago, yet Brian still remembers it as if it were yesterday as he stands on the beach waiting for a good wave with his wife Elaine by his side.
