He walked along the center of the tracks. The train was coming. Nothing matterd. He walked along the center of the tracks. The train was coming. He wasn’t going to look. Why should he? It didn't matter. He kept on walking. He heard a long thin whistle. Then another, and another Long wailing whistles. Pleading whistles. Begging. He felt the train it in his feet. The whistle blew again. It didn't matter. On and on and on it blew. He heard the wheels screeching. Steel on steel. The ground beneath him vibrating. Why should it matter? On and on and on the whistle, In his ears. Inside his ears. Inside his soul. He skritched up his neck and closed his eyes and waited and waited, and waited and W A I T E D AND WA- |
