The simulation had no purpose other than to get away from the crew. Octave crouched down near an old railroad track, trying to figure out a comfortable way to sit on a rocky surface. The horizon had a mist laden appearance with hints of civilization visible through the cloudy glow, but nothing existed there. Even the track didn't exist outside the simulation. It had been built to give a hint at what the would wold be like without the System, empty, but in truth it did nothing at all except give some time away. He needed that time.

Did he tell the crew or not? He pondered the question staring down the rails. Not that any would be surprised, Everyone thought that he would end up the "Other" on their crew, the one that had been created. He had fought the notion against all evidence but now he couldn't deny the fact. From the lips of his creator, he'd heard the truth.

Deciding whether to come clean early on or wait till it gets dropped later on should have been an easier task, and if it hadn't been for Cat, it would have. One Other member was expected, two unlikely, but a child... No one would believe such a thing. Yet, the mute girl he'd saved forcing him to rebel against the System was like him. They had created her too.

Most crews found ways to remove the Other, to put them in harms way or anything else to get rid of them. And his crew could have intentions similar for him, but what would they do if they found out about Cat? He didn't want to face the thought of one of the men causing her any harm.

He made his decision. He would come clean about himself, but no one would know about Cat. And no matter what happened to him, he'd find someone to take care of her. Other or not, she deserved more than life as a pawn for the System.
