One of the fun ways to get involved is to do the sprint challenges. You'll see a link for that near the top of the page. But other than that, writing is exactly what you do. You can update your word count as often as you like. The counter is on the left side of your screen. There is an edit button, you click on it, update your word count, and click done. Are you also a part of the Write-A-Thon? If not, you need to contact Jeff and he will add you. Make sure you update your word count at least daily here and on nanowrimo.org. You can also go to the list on the write-a-thon to see where everyone else is number wise.
