Yep, good method. The Calendar has a link to something called the Snowflake Method, which, despite its name, has nothing to do with kids getting awards for participation; rather, it has its roots in fractal structures like snowflakes. You build from a simple basis, expanding one thing at a time, until you have a completed story that's not a summary. It's a good way to write, but it's never really worked for me, as I'm more focused on scenes from the beginning. There are certain scenes that I want to show because they reveal character or present a metaphor. Like I said before, we're all good at some things and suck at others, and the important thing is to find what works for you and build on that. |
