Having a hard time creating conflict/tension in the first portion of my novel. There's an initial tension, but it's eased early on and there's a bit of a lull before the next major conflict arrives. I need something action-driven to draw my character through the story so I can develop the relationships necessary for the remainder of the story. Two perceived enemies become allies and an ally becomes the main antagonist. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but for now, it's iffy. If anyone wants to take a peek at what I have so far (it's not much sadly, story fell apart midweek last week and I've been trying to piece it back together) to give ideas: http://linoit.com/users/SarahRae/canvases/Pieces%20of%20Valin Pink sticky notes are potential ideas, blue are organization notes/pacing notes, and yellow are planned scenes.
