I always come back to "Ella Enchanted". It is still one of my favorite books, even decades after first reading it. I love the characters, the whimsy, the effortless way the author weaves fairy tale elements in. I love the subtle romance, that starts as a friendship and blossoms as the characters age. Char's desperate love letter and Ella's perfectly girlish reaction still makes me smile every time I read it.
