Have you looked through the Adoption Society threads on the NaNo website, Snowone Knows? They have Adopt a Plot for the last several years, so you have a ton of ideas right there. There's also Adopt a Fantasy Plot. That can be used with the other and vice versa. Insert mythical creatures to turn a regular plot into a fantasy plot and vice versa. You might also find inspiration in the Adopt a Subplot area as well.
