About This Author
I am a 40 year old married mother of two teenage boys. I live for writing, especially romance. Love the happily ever after scenerio. The best thing about writing for me is the ability to lose yourself in your work, and feel as if you've accomplished something great. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters.

Hi Cadie Laine,

An example of developing characters in story would be the character I am playing with right now - Jacqueline Skelton. I have written at least five story with her so far, and during the writing process I realized her flaw was that she assumes people are basically good, however she is a cyber security engineer which is a profession where a healthy dose of skepticism is essential. I feel that if I had just written that her flaw was that she was too trusting, I would have gone overboard, but by developing it in a story naturally, it comes across more genuine.

I like to write out their past, how they got to where they are in a story and then I incorporate bits and pieces of that history into the main story as needed. For me, it gives the characters more life than if I just plucked them out of air and put them into a story.

Write On!
