They can be fun to make. I used to use YouTube to create them and still have the lists but some of the videos get deleted. It helps to have a place like the book item for prep to write out a list of songs if there are some that relate to a story. Last year, I just did a Pandora channel that combined anime music and Babymetal. It was for a contemporary YA story, so not sure why it worked but it did.

This year, the detective ones don't come up with music for me. I have figured out that the romance does with the one character being into music like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, teen pop type stuff. The other, older one, he is more into 80's rock like Guns'n'Roses or Journey.
