I think it's good to be a little all over the place. I think the experimentation with different genres will help round out a writer and make them amp up their game. That said, would definitely want to read more of a new genre before writing it to get a feel for it, but that's me.

I'd be interested in the series that had clues based off of Poe. In the long run, for me, I think by reading and even broadening your reading horizons will help make one a better writer. BUT i don't want to broaden or branch out to soon too fast, ya' know.
