While the official NaNoWriMo website and contest has been ended, while it was up and running, NaNoWriMO (National Novel Writing Month) was a big motivating factor for some who were writing novels and wanted that push. In fact, I think Writing.com has community driven activities around NaNoWriMo. if anyone has links, please post. I'd love to hear your thoughts on NaNoWriMo - did you participate in the past, how did it help you? Were you encouraged by it? My first NaNoWriMo was in 2010 and my last was 2014. I participated in 4 NaNoWriMo's during those years and won every time. (had over 50K word count and the great start to my novels). All novels written were published. They years I wrote: 2010 I was wrong my first was 2009 2011 Okay my 2nd was 2010 2012 My memory was shot - it was 2013 2014 !! Yes this correct!! I can come back later with the information on the Novels that were published and talk a little bit more of my experiences. Those first couple of years I would meet a writing buddy at the coffee shop or Panera for about 2 hours writing and throwing out ideas, but last 2 years, it was just me and my organizational skills pounding out on the keys. Andy was 7 in 2009 and Joey 3 so I found it easier to write and organize writing time when they were younger. As they got older and got involved in more activities, finding the time was challenging. Love to year your thoughts and experiences. Smiles Steph |
