I try to review one story a day. I've been going for 387 days as of right now. I should be reviewing today's story, but I saw this question and couldn't resist My review format is very broad - I start with First Impressions which is the main part of the review, then Suggestions and then Final Thoughts, which tends to be a short summary of how I felt about the story. Mostly, I just chat about the story, what I liked, what I thought about the characters, what worked and what didn't. I don't always talk about the same things because they don't apply to all stories - sometimes I just don't have anything to say about a specific part. I don't have a template that gives me detailed headings to fill out. I tried that once, when I was helping to judge one of the official contests. I figured because I have a scoring chart with specific headings, I should be able to construct my reviews using those since I had already scored them. It was torture and took me forever, and the reviews were awful. I'm more the chatty type and I think I 'review' like I would talk to the writer if we sat in a coffee shop together. I review mainly for the SuperPower Reviewers. They were the first review group that asked me if I wanted to join, many years ago. Over the years, I've reviewed a bit for others as well, most recently for Anniversaries, but it always feels wrong because I'm a SuperPower girl, lol |
