Is there a writing tip you don't understand or that you go against?

Like, I know many people follow the "write what you know" but I tend to write things I don't know and refuse to write about myself. Just an idea. I'm sure it's also fine if you skip a week.

Recipes would be a fun one. I made a apple pie cheesecake with a ritz cracker crust over Christmas and wouldn't mind sharing.
