Oh, the humanity! Oh, the horror! Oh, the hilarity!
This is great, Robert! You did a mighty fine build-up to that surprise/twisted ending, and like some of your other reviewers, I agree that this would be a great setting to a much longer fantasy story. But seeing as you only wrote it for the punch line, that's understandable.
What really stood out was your descriptions in this. That part about how the warrior came to possess that blade was very well done, and the whole piece (especially the part about the cage) reminded me of the original Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston!
