The Space Race - a time of serious scientific advancement and discovery. It was also an extra large pissing competition. Apparently, it was measured in miles and kilometers. It was also measured in bodies, especially for Russia, in one manner or another. Makes one wonder what would have happened if they had indeed made it to the Moon first. Maybe we'd be shooting for Mars. Or, maybe, nothing much different would have happened.

Thoughts
Can't say that I've heard much about the Russian side of the Space Race. Interesting.
